Accessing your student email is now even easier — and more secure — through the MySMCCD OneLogin portal. We’ve also added multifactor authentication (MFA) to help keep your account secure. These changes will make it easier and safer to access your student tools in one place.
What is “MFA”, and Why Does It Matter?
Multifactor authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security to your account by requiring something you know (your password) and something you have (like your phone). Even if someone gets your password, they can’t access your account without that second step.
It’s one of the easiest and most effective ways to protect your personal info — like your class schedule, financial aid, and email — and now it’s built right in through OneLogin to help keep you safe. The use of MFA on your accounts makes you 99% less likely to be hacked.
Here’s What You Need to Know:
- No more Gmail password: You’ll now sign in using your OneLogin password — no need to enter your old Google password.
- You can access your student email in two ways:
- Sign in to OneLogin and click the “Student Email” tile.

- Go to the Gmail sign-in page, and enter your full student email address. You’ll be redirected to sign in through OneLogin.
- Sign in to OneLogin and click the “Student Email” tile.
The following guides walkthrough how to sign into your student email through OneLogin, and create and manage your MFA factors.
What Are the Options for the Second Factor?
To keep your account secure, OneLogin MFA supports:
- OneLogin Protect (recommended) – No codes needed — just tap “Approve” on a push notification.
- Authenticator App (Google or Microsoft) – Works even without cell service; ideal for international travel.
- Personal Email – Easy to use and always accessible if you have email on multiple devices.
- OneLogin SMS – Convenient and familiar; works on any mobile phone.
- OneLogin Voice – Great if you prefer a phone call voice prompts or don’t have a smartphone.
What If I Lose My Device or my second verification is not available?
- We recommend setting up more than one method (like phone and email) just in case.
- If needed, you can request a temporary access token that will reset your MFA access — you’ll need access to your personal email to do this.
- Still stuck? You will need to visit your primary campus Admissions & Records in person to verify your identify and reset your access.
What Can I Do to Prepare?
